I am moving so slowly now! and I am feeling very frustrated,
I am having a hard time focusing in the studio, my most productive hours are from 12am to 5am, usually. With that schedule, I finished the other vases at the speed I did, but since the semester started I can’t/shouldn’t go to bed that late because I will absolutely not wake up on time for my classes the following day, so it has been frustrating, but I have to get rid of the excuses and finish these pieces now!! I do hate excuses, and so far, It all just sound like a bunch of excuses :c but…
No buts!
I have been reading this book, “Plantains and Our Becoming.” It is a conversation about the Afro-Latin (Dominican) experience in the US in the form of poems.
This is the description from Goodreads “A rousing, beautifully observed, and tender-hearted debut poetry collection about identity, culture, home, and belonging—for fans of Jasmine Mans and Fatimah Asghar “We, children of plátanos, always gotta learn to play in everyone else’s backyard and somehow feel at home.” …
anyways… I scanned this page because it made me cry and it is very fitting to our current politics. Thought I would share.
