Right before your eyes is 700 hexagon-shaped tiles, now polished.
So, according to my math hehe, I needed 1,000 and something tiles. But according to Zach’s math… I need 1,315 tiles. So yeah. I need to make some more.
I’m debating whether to fill the empty space (as shown in pic #2) with a lighter clay body for contrast, or just stick to my usual clay body and rely on glaze to create the variation.
Right now I’m leaning more toward using my usual clay and letting the. It feels more cohesive with my work and truly, way less chaotic.
I’m firing these 700 tiles ASAP and will probably start cutting the tiles for the lettering part soon.
I have an idea to make that section less complicated. I’m trying to avoid cutting the tiles after firing because I really want the mosaic to look as even as possible. The cleaner I can keep it now, the better it’ll look later.
We’ll see how it goes.
I am very excited!
