The head is finished! Yay!

On the top of the head you can see that I’ve started building the base for the vessel that will sit above it. I’m still thinking about the exact shape I want for the vase. I considered referencing historical vessels from my ancestry, but I’m not sure if those forms would aesthetically fit the piece.

I know I want the vessel to be long and tall, similar to the shapes I’ve already built in the past. still working on sketches for the vases, but I’m also considering hand-building large plates or bowls that could sit on the head as well.

Overall, I’m happy with how the head turned out, though I’m also a little frustrated with parts of the process.

One thing I really like is the texture in the hair. Next time I might make a flat rectangular stamp and roll the coils over it before attaching them to the head to create a more consistent texture.
